Roof Bar's Will 3 Door Roof Bars Fit A 5 Door?

Recommended Posts

As in the title, I have been offered a set cheap.

They are currently on a 3 door...

...Will they fit a 5 door?

One would imagine so as regardless of number of doors the car is the same size....

So I would say yes... :)

They will NOT fit.

The bars for a 5-drs are held in place with clamps that go in between the door and the body,

each bar has it's own set of clamps, so for that reason a 5-dr set will not fit a 3dr car,

by lack of the rear door opening to clamp into.

On the 3-dr car they "solved" that problem by adding a bar between the front and rear bar.

The front bar clamps onto the body in between the door and the body and the rear is held down

by a second set of clamps that are about halfway the interconnecting bars on the side.

These clamps fall into the opening for the font door aswell, but they do so at the rar of the door.

A 3-dr has longer doors, so there is room in the door opening to do so. The 3-dr set will not fit a

5-dr car since on a 5-dr the B-pillar is making it impossible for the clamp to grab onto the body.

If my story doesn't seem to make any sense, take a look at the AIM for installing

the roofbars, that should clear it up, as I couldn't find any pics to show what I mean...

I can also confirm that bars for an Aygo will not fit a C1 or 107 and bars for a C1/107 will not fit the Aygo.

The roof is contoured different, so the "feet" of the bars will not sit onto the roof the proper way. Bars for a

107 WILL fit the C1 and the other way around, as these have the exact same roof from the A-pillar backward...

Hi John,

I have a set of roof bars for a 3 door - 2 years old - no longer required

They'll need to be collected from Marlow - postage would be a b_gger.

Any reasonable 'donation' accepted .

I can be contacted @ jonhall at talk21.com

I bought a second hadn set myself, so I did my research.

And there's no point in keeping that to myself...
