hello

i have a 2004 avensis t3-s d4-d and have noticed a few irregularities ...

i am going to reveal my complete lack of knowledge here so please be gentle with me

when i was using the lights a few weeks ago i noticed that (at the front)

the outer light of the two on one side was lit and one the other side it was the inner light

i checked this again recently and now both the inner lights are working

but the output is understandably dim for driving at night ...

i dont THINK ive changed anything but this just seems to have happened ...

can anyone suggest what on earth is going on?

is there an easy fix in this difficult financial times??

many thanks for any help

regarding headlights in Avensis, from 2003 onwards the problems began with the glass misting over. This was because replacing cover after changing bulbs was difficult. When the back cover of lighting unit was not caught properly moisture gets in and the glass mists over, sometimes permanently and discolours. Toyota changed the design after a few years and neglected to tell anyone unless theey complained while still under warranty and then they replaced them free. I had all those issues untill I had to buy new one myself. PROBLEM SORTED. £285.00 OFF MR T. Do not buy spurious units as the quality is poor. Good luck, As for the light working then not, thats just because the bulb might not have been secured properly.

The earlier light units have poor bulb holders which tend to melt and snap off. My guess is, if you remove the rear cover from one of the lights you will find the bulb holder lose or snapped - sorry.

Im sure the warranty on these lamps has been extended - give your dealership a call about it.

Mart.
