I understand that the Picnic is officially registered as a 6 seater vehicle

You may just fall foul of the regulations if you carry out unauthorised modifications to the carying capacity.

Your insurance company might not be too impressed either...................If you want to carry more people get youself a minibus :)

So, what "Regulations" are you referring to, and who has to "authorise" them then ? Will a policeman come and arrest him for putting in an extra seat then ? pah - you can do what you like to your own car - just make sure it's safe, and who cares whether insurance companies are impressed or not...as long as you tell them what you have done, and they agree to insure you, the financial arrangement is between you and them. Get the angle grinder out mate, I'm rooting for you ! Try the bench seat out of an early 90's previa, and take care with the seatbelt mountings.

i fully agree you arnt going to be done for changing seat arrangements i think it is a brill idea and think u shud def take the seats from an early age previa ,, but watch what you do when u put them in take care with it ,, make sure it is all safe aswell as seatbelts and the mounts for them

and as for the insurance company not being to impressed i think that is aload of crap !!

lol.. thanks guys for the moral support!!!

Let me just add that I spoke to the DVLA 'modifcation' dept and they said it is ok, aslong as the seatbelts aren't affected (safety first) which shudnt be a problem as the belts are mounted on the sides of the car and aren't connected to the seat. I also spoke to my insurance company and they said it was fine as it was an internal modifcation and were more than happy to give me permission!

Now.. gotta go find some seats, thanks guys!!!!
