Help Speedo Droped To 0 Mph

hi, my 1.3 gli 1992 k corolla has never had anyproblem since today. I was doin 70mph on the motorway and suddenly speedo drops to 0 i was shocked. The little while late crops back up to 30 then back to normal speed. Now it works but i am sure its off by 10-15mph, I am doing like 40 and its shows 30ish. The car has got 126k, so what could it be the cable? How much to fix and where can i get parts. Has anyone else faced same problem... The rev meter and fuel guage and everything still works ok. BTW i am based in UK.
