Felt A Bit Mad Tonight.

Coming back from work I followed a really nice classic car, not sure what it was but it had been fully restored and I was thinking how nice it was that someone cared enough to put it back on the road and to look after it so well.

Then I looked down on the chrome bumper to find a 'No Jap Cr@p' sticker.. there is no need for that.

Thats almost racist! ;)

The only time I feel a sticker like that is justified.

Is the one on the old (proper) mini's that say 100% BMW free

Probably only had the sticker to hide surface rust

Next time you see it, ask the owner how much his respray cost, whilst running a key down the side. Only joking

I did drop it a gear so my engine roared... hope he pooped his pants. The car was so old it didnt need seatbelts.

I'm proud to have a Jap car...

i wouldn't take it to heart m8... it's only a sticker  , he's obviously proud to have a car from 1906... same as you're proud to have your jap mr2

It may be a sticker but it does show the mentality of the driver just like a clio capped crusader with an 'on a mission' sticker. There was a red escort RST with the same logo on his car. All I could think was what an utter :censor: rounded_door_handle :censor: .

The most scary sticker logo ive ever seen on a car was on a volvo. It read "JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS"

Srd are you taking the *****?

Sorry couldnt work it out whether you were being serious or not. That sticker is not abusive to Asians (or other poeples whos diet is based on rice). Its part of the boy-racer culture, (at least anything rice is ;) )

Basically your car is either Nice (speaks for itself) or Rice (full budy kit, massive rims stupidly low suspension, stickers all over it and 3 15" subs in the boot :P )

Im pretty sure u were taking the ***** but u didnt put any smilies so just thought id explain...

Its usually when £35000 has been spent on a saxo or a pug106 when the person could have spent it on a decent car Like an MR2 (for bibs )

Its really about taste

yeah i know what it stands for,and i know it's aimed at boy-racer culture but i still think it's offensive.not everyone is into the modding scene so it would definately be interperated differantly depending on whos reading it.

im sorry but i think it's distasteful..............

im not a crusader for political corectness or anything like that it's just my opinion

thanx for the explaination anyway.

Lets face it though when this 'old' car was built Jap cars were crap.... they didnt get any good until 1970 (ish)

Coming from a background in VWs, and having frequently attended meets with the "No Rice" club (it's just a name I can assure - many members fully respect Japanese cars but the founding members are hardcore VW nuts), I can honestly say I think Jap cars are the best.

Sure, the Germans build their cars out of stainless steel gurders so they never rust, but even with high power outputs VWs and Audis are boring, and nearly all of them are front-engined, FWD cars. Yawn.

BMWs... They're alright though I suppose. Have to give them some credit for the M3 CSL. We'll leave Porsche out of this because they're on another level, class wise.

German reliability, in my experience, is over estimated. In many circles Japanese reliability is underestimated. Don't get me started on Alfa Romeos and Fords... And French cars don't get a look in anywhere as far as I'm concerned. I can't think of a single interesting French sports car off the top of my head.

British cars aren't bad, but with the exception of the VX220, Monaro and the (almighty, beloved) TVR (which is too expensive anyway so we'll ignore it) can't really compete with the:

MR2

EVO

Skyline

Supra

350Z

RX7

RX8

Integra Type R

NSX

200SX

All of the above, with the possible exception of the NSX, are affordable, high-performance cars that no other country appears to be able to match.

Ahhhhhhhh I think a guy I know saw your car.

Any chance you could post a pic of it? He said he saw a black MR2 which "looked the nuts" and the description fitted a photo of what I think was your car.

He owns an FTO, by the way!

I was on the NR forum for a bit... I've buggered off now for obvious reasons!

In fact half of what I probably thought was Surrey is probably Berkshire. Learn something every day.
