i pick up a motor tommorow- a AVENSIS 2LTR 1999 auto-dont expect any probs but if any body thinks i should look out for anything in particular would they let me know,110,000 miles

99' it should be a pre-vvti 2.0. If thats the case, there won't be a problem, the 3S-FE was one of the best 4 cylinder engines Toyota ever made and was perfectly suited to the auto box, much more relaxed than the VVTi engines which need working harder and are noisier along with a couple of other problems.

i've got a 2.0 SR 1999 but manual. hasn't given me any problems yet. best i've had out of it is 46mpg too :)

I would avoid the vvti as they have very heavy oil consumption, as stated earlier, i have a 1999 2.0 sr manual runs like a dream using as a taxi sometimes runs 24 hrs with another driver, no problems with it, been around 12 months,

The 2.0 VVTi doesn't suffer from oil burning, although they do suffer from head-gasket failure.

The old 3S-FE 2.0 was bomb-proof though, superb engine.
