better straighter pipe than the Typhoon, with an Apexi dry type large filter.

only $200 shipped which is pretty much the same price as the Apexi BUT will undoubtably in my mind give better performance. same price as the K&N but with dry filter so bonus points there.

why would you buy an apexi (okay so the Fujita will stretch the MAF cables and this could be one reason) or a K&N over the fujita when the fjita does what they do but better for the same price?

fujita does what they do but better for the same price?

What benefit does the pipe give?

The K&N & A'PEXi both offer the same gains despite being different kits.

What gain does the Fujita offer?

well yes the wires is a problem. after my old car had problems due to the oil filter. i do not want to go through ANY problem this time around. i dont want to modify my wires so they fit. i just want to buy an air filter pop it on and drive off with a lion roaring under my bonnet. not spend extra time modifying stuff on the car to fit something on.

im sure your fujita will be great. its like an apexi mixed with a k&n and will undoubtedly give you some nice sound and performance.

BUT if you look at this comparison site.....someone plz post it.......it shows that the apexi beats all other types because of its near free maintainence, and the filteration on it is far better than the other competitors.

my heart is set on an apexi. :D

first off, what proof do you have that the Apexi gives the same gain as a Typhoon kit?

notice all the 90 degree bends in the standard rubber tubing from TB to Apexi intake? plus the ribbing in it? there is no way on earth you could convince me that the rubber there flows air better than the Typhoon pipe.

The fujita is a better design than the Typhoon (even straight pipe) so should flow even better than the K&N which i just established looks to flow better than the Apexi.

So if the K&N flows better than the Apexi, and the fujita does at least as good, BUT with dry filter as per the Apexi, then we have a win win situation for the Fujita.

If you are looking for the MKIV.net comparison, i was the one who posted it here (possibly originally) months ago to show what you are trying to say. I cannot see any reason why the Fujita would filter worse than the Apexi. they are such similar type material. UNLIKE the others that were on test, which were all completely different materials. (mesh steel, foam etc)

Ergo Fujita ftw?

Without having a CTS dyno'd at stock and then dyno'd with the K&N, A'PEXi, Blitz & Fujita kits on this arguement will never be solved ;)

Jap kits use the existing hosing to the TB, American kits replace the hose.

No offense to the Americans but i trust Jap engineering much more! :P

Filtration wise just because something looks like the A'PEXi doesn't mean it will filter the same ;)

Everyone going to the RR day next month should club together and get one of the stock rollas tested a number of times with the oe box, then the A'PEXi, K&N and the fujita and Blitz if they are also available.

We could then see how each one performs compared to the OE setup and once and for all give a difinitive answer as to which one is best.

And then we could keep the info exclusive for those at the RR Day! :spiteful:

its true but surely you can see my point that logically speaking 90" rubber bends will just not flow as well as an almost straight polished metal pipe? but lets not be blinded by what we own or what we want to believe to be true...

and true just from the pictures you cannot tell the filtration, but from the material properties you can tell it will be of similar filtration, not like steel mesh vs cotton for instance. where there is a large gap between the two materials...

I get what you're saying but there must be a reason for A'PEXi and Blitz using the existing piping rather than change for a metal pipe.

Maybe something to with the difference in the heat transfer properties between rubber and metal?

personal view only as my car is stock, is that the dry filter idea is better than a wet/oiled filter and a replacement pipe like the typhoons would be better also! so this new product may be a very good mix of both!!!

if you could find someone to sponsor us ie a stockist or contact the companies who manufacture the units i would be more than willing for my car to be used as the trial stock car when i am driving again!!! also as long as i can keep the winning set up lol

i think cost. and generic fit ability.

aluminium that a lot of these pipes are has fantastic heat transfer properties, but isnt cheap;)

dont forget that i owned apexi on my last motor and have too been prophesing their benefits here but that i have qualified each time saying that i think the Typhoon gives better BHP. now i think ive found gem that has the best bits of them all. So im not just a fujita fanboi or something.

Maybe we should try negotiating with Awesome on the day for some free dyno time? ;)

fujita fanboy lol thats funny

i checked out fujita anyway and they dont do intakes for my 1.6 t3 sadly...

otherwise would have been an option since its more or less an apexi and typhoon combined

definately.

im going to try and do a TB coolant bypass in time for the RR day. the mounts are already in. i want to measure my intake temp before/after the dyno to see what the diff is alongside someone elses.

also to get a video showing someone with an open bonnet with engine movement vs my car with ES Inserts to see what the difference in absolute torquing is.

hi i just bought a tte backbox for £25 off ebay LOL

problem is that its for the pre facelift 1.4 and 1.6 models. and i have a facelift 2005 1.6 corolla.

does anyone have any ideas on how i may be able to fit this on?

parts king told me that it wont fit my car but he also said that the prefacelift tsport tte backboxes wouldnt fit the facelift tsports....and they did!

so any ideas? would i need to do some extra welding etc etc.??

thanks

Hi there £25 for a tte back box thats a bargain i have to say!!! if you cant get the back box to fit on your car i dont mind buying your one off you because i have a 2002 (e12) 1.4 vvti and i think it would fit on my car.

Good luck mate

I got a TTE twin-pipe back box via eBay for the RAV and very pleased with it :D

What the hell is a Rav doing in the Corolla section? Get out!

The TTE (Remus) back boxes are well worth it if you can find a bargain

I was lucky enough for one to already be on the CTS when i bought it! :)

Although i think Jim's £25 back box is pob the best bargain i've seen! ;)

No one posting in the RAV section, so have to take what I can find :( Slumming it now ;)

Mine was £100 for the three parts - 2 x tail pipes + 1 silencer - all brand new from a Toyota Dealer. £20 to remove old and fit new, but it was a straight swap.

for £25, has to be worth a punt even just on the off-chance it will fit

Slumming it? You've come into the forum for the worlds best selling car so surely it's a move up from the Rav forum? :P

£25 is deffo worth the gamble, find a decent mechanic and it will be made to fit
