Ideas For Toc Rav4 Meet

Hoovie

Anybody any idea when they plan to go? It would probably be easiest for me to swap into Wed/Thu 11th&12th plus a day holiday if we need to spill over into another day either side.

I'm easy.........apparantly :D: But it will cost you more than a pie and a pint! ;)

I still prefer flying, not sure I could take the strain of driving/been driven for two whole days

Kingo

Must admit, we would be looking at 12hrs minimum each way, 2nights accomodation, £180 fuel, eurotunnel/ferry/ road tolls.. although i fancy it as an experience, seems a bit daft when we can fly direct in 2hrs for about £50.. maybe we could do one of those Top gear challenges, Hoovie + Chatters could drive + we could race them on public transport..Mind you if someone will loan me a Bugatti Veyron..:drool::drool:

Liek you say, Stew - the flying option is the sensible one, and driving is more of a "let's do it differently" one - Plus you can fill the boot with lots of cheap booze on the way back ;) (the £-€ rate may hurt the pocket on the booze and fuel though :( )

The journey would be 1019 miles for me, one way, and take almost 18 hours so I read. Thats a 2038 mile round trip which is about 8 months worth of driving on 1 of my RAVs !!

Looks like £68 return for you B_B with sleazy jet. Edinburgh to Geneva 11-12 March. Gotta be better than 8 days in a RAV 4.1 with only three doors? ;)

Kingo

I checked my annual leave today and I'm a lot worse off than I thought so I need to gracefully back out. If we do a one day thing somewhere I will be OK.

Sorry!

You could do the trip in a day Anchs

Leave LPL at 07.05 and return on the 21.20 flight, gets you in at 22.20. Cost about £80

You would have to miss out on Local Hero singing three chorus's of Nelly Dean on the tables of "Bar Bangkok" but to be honest that might not be a bad thing

Kingo

I could do the 2 days as long as it was the Wed/Thu but I don't want to dictate what days they should be. I don't mind Stewpots rendition of Nelly Dean but I do mind the "pillows" issue (I mean I like Stew and everything but one has a reputation you know).

Weds to Thursday 11 - 12 March are:

From Liverpool £84 return

From Manchester £57

From B/Ham £57

From Bournmouth £53

From Newcastle £58

From Gatwick £70

From Edinburgh £87

Prices vary according to how close you book, but I thought I would give an idea of prices to those who live around the country. Prices obtained from skyscanner.net

Kingo

I'm up in Scotland - but in Feb :P

we could do a Scottish version of Geneva then !! Lanark Blue Cheese, venison, drambuie fuelled flambees .......nae bother

Might even get a good deal at The Dakota in Motherwell ? (Nice there btw) And we could invite some local friendly TOC members too.

tbh, I think Geneva will be a mile too far - ma Incapacity benefit micht jist be affected!!

So what's the verdict then...

Drive across Europe or a road trip upto Scotland for Haggis Pie and a pint or 5.......

We could start with Hoovie down south then picking up various members along the way all joining the convoy...Detour to pick up Kingo and Local hero etc.....Meet Robert off the ferry from Ireland, service stop at Anchorman's garage. I'm sure we have enough spare tyres between us to satisfy the T180 owners risking such a long journey.....and ending up at either Dave.M house or Bothy's for the over night festivities....All aim to meet at Scotch corner or where ever....

I am game for almost anything. however i have to say i am finding the current climatic, + economic situation a tad worrying :( Maybe a curry night might be better, When you next in Manchester Chatters? I'd be happy to pick up Kingo +Anchs and anyone else that wants to join in.. :meet:

I'm up for a curry night and a beer. I can catch the last train home as well!

If we do Scotland I can't go the night before as I will be on lates and need to be back in reasonable time for earlies on Monday morning. Its doable but not without restrictions.

I can go to Manchester easy enough. Are we talking about a week night or weekend?

I'd be interested as well - Manchester under an hour so long as we miss the rush hour. I 'spose that the train is a good option as well but probably no quicker as I'd need to go to Leeds first.
