Leaking T-bar Roof

Recommended Posts

Can any one PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME? I have recently purchased an MR2 T-BAR and the roof leaks. I asked someone at my local garage/body repair workshop and we discovered that I need new seals all around. Following a visit to my local Toyota garage I discovered that the parts I need will cost £600 pounds. Does anyone out there know of anywhere where I will get them any cheaper or anything else I can do to stop the leak. All ideas welcome and greatley appreciated!

How badly do they leak?

a ) replace seals -- expensive though... (I think mine in total cost around £300 from a guy on MR2OC and I fit them myself)

b ) eccentric rod guides -- likely cost a tenner all in -- they basically pull the tbar panel down to give a better seal.

c ) black silicon sealant -- on the rubbers! this is the only one that worked for me!

Other options include:

Silicon rejunvenating spray (Halfords)... more of a preventative than a cure IMO

Blu-Tak (I've been told it helps!)

I put some silicone rubber treatment on all the seals on the other half's T-Top and seems to have stopped the leaks for now.

Eccentric rod guides next!
