Help. Fuel gauge has become unreliable as it appears to have a mind of its own. Eg today on starting the car the gauge showed empty with the warning light on. After 3 mins light goes out and needle moves to 1/4 , after 20 mins moves to just below 1/2 which I think is correct. This has been going on for a year. Toyota people unable to sort out though they charged me. Car has been to and fro. Another garage also unable to identify problem. Any one out there can help as to which componant could be malfunctioning and cause of the problem. THANKS

hello mate

as far as I know the unit in the fuel tank consists of: pump+filter+level gauge + el.board.

and this unit is as assembly. i dee your problem is connected with el board resistance (small part in the circle).

i am not sure in fact. wait for another posts on here.

Cheers/Igor
