Scv Replacement

OK, here goes....

After just about recovering from the financial trauma of shelling out £1000 for a replacement DMF a couple of months ago, my RAV is now showing similar symptoms to those described in the following forum topics:

I went to my local dealer and they tell me that I need to get the SCVs replaced. They have quoted £190 for parts & £300 for labour. I have had a look at the procedure linked below and the job seems pretty straightforward.

Should add that my RAV is the 2.0ltr D4D not a 4.2. Bottom line is, how confident can I be that changing out the SCVs will solve the problem, and, am I missing something here, or is £300 a teensy bit steep for what looks to be a couple of hours work?

They have discounted the parts for you at that price but the labour is a teensy weensy bit steep

The SCV valves are £222.96 retail

£190 sounds about right for the parts...but the garage is asking silly money for the labour charge.....

The job is not that hard to do and a novice could attempt it.....if you do spend the £300 on a dam good Xmas pressie for your self :D :D :D :D :D

Mr Kingo - I understand that you are the parts supremo - is the price you quoted the going rate for TOC members? Also, are the parts available off the shelf, or is there a long lead time?

For info, my chassis number is JtheG20V100035504

More importantly, will it fix the problem!!

Correction, my chassis number is - JtheG20V100035504

How bizarre - the editor won't let me change the chassis number. Anyway, the first 5 characters are: J T E H G, not, JTHEG. The rest of the number is as per the original.

The TOC editor is trying to spell check your chassis number, a common problem with RAV Vin numbers, tries to make the word THE out if it for some strange reason

My price is £192.98 delivered INC, thinking about it, the parts are £190 plus VAT so they were not giving you a discount, my price includes 15% off and a bit of carriage. £192.28 ALL IN

I dont have a set on the shelf but can get them within a day, and send them first class post

Lastly, it does sound like you have the SCV problem, but I cant say if it will cure your specific problem
