Corolla Rear Wiper Fault

Hi

I would like to ask if anyone has any ideas as to the fault with my 1997 Corolla rear wash/wipe.

The wiper motor does not stop running after the switch is turned off. It continues to wipe although in a jerky action, for various lengths of time upto several minutes. At my MOT the dealer suggested it could require a replacement motor. But I would like to ask a few people any other suggestions before I try and source one, just in case it isn't.

If any thoughts along the lines of a relay fault are possible, could you tell me where the relay can be found.

Many thanks

One of mine did this. It was really annoying. Jerkin around like it was having a fit.. Turned out to be a loose earth from the wiper motor in the hatch itself, after a few journey's resulted in prying the velour'd cardboard panel off the inside of the hatch and ripping the connector out.

Finally i removed the panel, only to find the loose earthing bolt. Mind you, i broke a few clips in the panel. So be careful when prising the panel away!!
