Help/advice Fitting Original Toyota Side Steps To 2001 4.2

Hi, My wife has just bought a 2001, 5-door, RAV4 (newer shape), and I have also bought some original Toyota Side Steps off a friend who had the same shape on a 2003. Now, I've got them home this evening to find that the steps do not just simply 'screw into the holes' as my colleague described! There are no pre-drilled holes and I'm now concerned I will have to do some drilling myself to get the steps to fit.

Can anyone give me advice on this...is it normal to drill to install these steps? The steps are the same as this photo:

Really appreciate any advice or comments on this.

Thanks - Mark.

Try not to attempt to solder them on as they can fall off and injure someone. MIG welding will work, but the proximity of the petrol tank may be dangerous in inverse proportion to your ability to weld. There is a grab adhesive made in Northern ireland called CT10 which has remarkable grab power, despite surfaces being wet or dry and it remains slightly flexible.

Or you could just follow boring guidelines. I mean really. When was the last time you bought something and didn't bother to read the instructions? Far more interesting to use rawlplug bolts to fasten the steps on!
