Why don't you just try and sell the Previa on the Autotrader then you can buy a smaller car with what you get. DO NOT use eBay as you will not get its true worth on there. When I was trying to sell my Micra and Primera this is where I sold both and got my asking price on both.

sure, its a fair swop - as long as you find someone with a focus that wants a Previa ! It's a bit of a jump in size ! Come to that, why would you want to downsize from your useful old bus to something with the carrying capacity of a pack of players !!! B)

good luck to you, but Propnut is spot on with the "sell Yours first" bit - and eBay is for (brave) buyers only, you'll get a fraction of it's worth compared to autotrader.

Previa's are horrendously heavy on fuel. A well tuned well looked after one will get 20 - 22 around town, up to 27 on the open road. But most are very poorly tuned and suffer from binding brakes resulting in owners getting as low as 15 - 16MPG around town and 18-20 on the open road. Most times this is the reason for selling them. I myself have decommissioned mine by putting it on SORN and have bought a diesel Chrysler Voyager ( a truly cr*p car but it serves a purpose) for my UK based travel. I will put the Previa back on the road the next time I go on a European trip.

You are right with respect to buying cars off eBay you need to be very brave or very stupid. The one and only time I tried was for a Nissan El-Grand. The guy listed it as being perfect inside and out as well as mechnically. Let's just say that all these statement would have been true if one was stone deaf, totally blind and had no intention of driving the car.

Fortunately being very mechanical it took me all of 60seconds to suggest that the seller go on a sexual excursion.

Non mechanical people buying cars sight unseen off eBay need to have their heads examined.

Propnut,

Slightly off topic but why a Chrsyler? Did you consider any other MPVs like the KIA Sedona, Ford Galaxy /VW Sharan or bigger ones like Mercedes Vito or Vauxhall Vivaro?

Good question. Actually I had my eye on a Fiat Ulysse but for a number of reasons it fell through. Since selling my Nissan Micra the Previa became my prime means of transport for business and the consumption was just killing me. I did a lot of research on the other cars but found the Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra too small and the Kia Sedona has a worse reliability record than the Chrysler. Then this one just came up and I had the cash in my pocket......so now its on my driveway. But truly it is very much a mechnics car and I would seriously disuade anyone from buying one.

Very good consumption though 36MPG around town, drives very well and quite good looking I think.

I've always liked the Voyager after renting them a few times in Florida. It did everything I needed at the time. I think it was a 3.3 V6 auto but very easy to drive and get along with and I've had A Galaxy, Sharan and now the Previa.

Enjoy the change Propnut.

The 3.3 Voyager has such bad consumption it makes the petrol Previa seem positively Frugal
