Same Problems A Week Later

Hi All,

Any help would be great !!!

This time last week l turned on the car and the eml came on with the, traction control and vsc light. The engine is not in limp mode, so l took it to a garage and they took these codes off the ecu:

P0505 - Idle air control system

C1203 - Engine control system comm circut

C1246 - Fault in master cylinder pressure sensor

Cleared the codes off and the car was fine no problems at all, even changed the oil and sparks on the sunday and she was as sweet as a nut!

Now this morning l start the car, so far so good and head off down the road and at some point the eml, traction, vsc light came on again.

Any ideas ????

The only things l can think of are:

Lamba Sensor

MAF Sensor

Faulty ECU

Oxygen Sensor

Split on one of the intake pipes near the air filter, but couldnt see any split when l had a look before

or evil gremlins that only work on a friday

I really dont want to take it to Mr T and end up paying a mortage to get it fixed.

Any help is really appreciated, thanks in advance !!!

Lambda sensor and Oxygen sensor (also described as O2 sensor) ARE the same thing !!!

You wonder MAF sensor ...hmmm ;) do you have an 'aftermarket' filter system fitted (eg KN/Performance filter/cone filter etc. etc.)?

What milage has car done?

...So lets start with the (easy) 'P' CODE - 'POWER' CODE which is a generic one as well (thus would be the same for any post 2001 European spec / sold car- Ford, Vauxhall, Mercedes, Fiat, etc.)

(the other two are CHASSIS CODES)

Does the car drive alright?

Pull up hills/under load and accelerate/overtake okay?

When at traffic lights etc does it idle okay or do revs/r.p.m 'flutter' up and down (<regular members will be raising eyes to heaven and thinking "OH NO" that question again  - only that diagnosis is usually regards to pre 2001 Corollas ;) )

Finally could you explain:

... have you found a split or looking for one?

Woops well at least l know the O2 sensor and Lamba sensor are the same thing.

Havent fitted an aftermarket system and replaced the air filter about 400 miles ago, so its not old.

The cars on 68k, l havent changed the coolent since 40k would that cause this kind of issue.

Once the cars started it drives fine, can still pull up hills and overtake saxos and bmw's :D

At the lights the car does idle ok, but its idling about 300 rpm higher then normal.

I was looking to see if l could find a split which l havent yet.

One thing l noticed before this started happing is the right hand driver air vent isnt blowing hot air, its barly warm with the temp on at 24c, dont know if it means anything.
