2002 D4d Starting Issues

This past week or so my D4D has been giving me issues starting, especially in the colder mornings. The car starts on the first turn of the keys after waiting 4 secs for the coil light to go out but after a couple of seconds it dies. If I try and turn the key immediately again to start it takes 15 - 20 secs before it kicks into life, I noticed today that if I turn completely off again and then wait for the coil light to go out again it started immediately.

Once up and running the car is running smooth. although I have noticed it starting to dip in power on acceleration, solenoid valves have been replaced twice already!!

Anyone had similar issues - is it just the glow plugs need a longer warm up time?

hello

normally you'd have en ethalon glue plug as the sample with respective ompedance. So the same ompedance value must be on each glow plug. In case of differ values -- your problem might be the same as you stated above;

besides -- oonce the enegine starts to ignite the diesel -- the glow plugs relay must normally be in ON to remain to heat all plugs unless the ignition iside on each cylinder will be stable.

the above is for your guidance how to proceed.

cheers/Igor
