Hey, just new to the forum, having just bought a 99 Corolla

Just wondered if anyone knew how to replace the back light for the centre console (where the heater controls are)

The Blower speed dial is lit and half of the temp dial...im guessing one of the bulbs is dead.

Any ideas how to replace, and where i can get the parts? Online or from Halfrauds!?!

Cheers

Hello, and welcome. Not long here myself..

there are small bulbs behind the console-I have the same problem but have yet to look for the replacement bulbs.

Pull the dial handles off the heater speed, temp and direction guages- You'll see some screw heads(two I think..). Remove those. Also pull the knob from the fresh/recycle air level, be careful as that is made of two parts, and the clear plastic part might fall out when you remove it. Mine did, and fell down the gear-stick hole. bugger.

Next, a thin screwdriver can be inserted down the sides of the console to gently prise it out a bit. The console has plastic levers holding it in, but once you stat it moving, it comes pretty easily. There are wires connected at the bottom for the ashtray light and !Removed! lighter, so remove them carefully. It's a bit awkward, but it comes out ok in the end. The blown bulbs pull out, and have green rubber sheaths on them for colour.
