Hi

Since buying the Rav from Uncle Arnie last friday

Things haven't been going to well. Nothing wrong with the car as yet.

Just things have been disappearing. Starting with the Remote Control & Head Phones for the

Ceiling Mounted DVD Player. Been in touch with them since the Weekend and to give them Credit they have tried to find the

missing Items. So the latest update I had today was they are getting someone in on Monday. From the company that makes them

to either replace the whole Unit or supply Remote & headphones..

So this morning was having a Look around the motor not had much chance as I work early finish late always to Dark to see much.

Thought I would check the jack & Tools Plus Locking Nut.

Found the jack under the Seat. No sign of the Tool bag or locking Wheel Nut Key.

So back on the Phone to AC. Asked them how I was going to change a Puncture with a jack with no Wheel Brace

& Locking Wheel Key.

Full of apologies will get right on it and phone me back.

Did I make a mistake buying from AC or just unlucky ?

Regards

Ian

I bought my first Rav (a 4.2) from AC London Road Glasgow. No problems, they shipped it from AC Ayr branch, no complaints.

I bought my second Rav from a small local Toyota dealer in Hamilton thinking that the small family co. would be better, NO.

I used to use this dealer for servicing, not any longer I go further afield now to AC Glasgow. Where if I buy another Rav will

I go ? AC

The Rav only came with one Key.

So they kindly took out it over to the Toyota Dealership at the Back of their Premises to have a New key cut and programmed.

I suspect and it's only a Suspicion . that the Things might have gone missing their.. That or someone at AC Ford Linwood has a RAV

and needed those Parts for their Car.

Just out of interest. Have you checked the compartments in the boot, should be each side behind the wheels...Also lift up the boot floor, most have a hidden compartment their. My jack and brace are under the drivers seat but the locking wheel nuts live in the boot, along with a paraphernalia of other things... :D :D :D :D

Hi

Looked in the Compartments in the Boot either side

Empty Space in both.

I was wondering about the Boot Floor their seems no way to access it.

looks as if the Carpet goes under the sill at the door opening.

It's a 3 Door 2003 NRG if that helps .

Thanks again

Ian

Hi Ian

Its not that uncommon to have missing bits like tools in 2nd hand cars.

To be honest, I carry a small trolley jack, and an extending wheelbrace with suitable socket in mine. I have never trusted the leverarch type jack after one collapsed.

The tools on the 4.1 used to live between under the drivers seat, and in one of the wee compartments above the rear nearside wheelarch.

I'd buy a socket sized for the wheel nuts and an extending lever. No harm in carrying spare bulbs etc.

I usually carry a towing harness, jump leads and other bits in case I come across some puir soul broken down.

You'll need to get the locking key but!

Your right about the jack and Wheel Brace.

I would only trust a Trolley jack given the weight of the Rav.

Always have an Extending Wheel Brace & Long Breaker Bar. for the stubborn Nuts.

What concerns me more is the amount of Stuff missing. DVD Remote headphones etc.

Not to mention the Aggro getting another locking Key for the Wheels..

Hope to have it al resolved by the end of the Week...

On another Topic this is the First Auto RAV we have owned I was wondering if their was any way

to Lock up the Diff on the Auto or is this not possible ?

Thanks for any advice

Regards

Ian

On your version of the RAV, I'm afraid I know nothing! And I know even less about automatics, altho I wouldn't mind having one!

dave.m might know?

Or anchorman if he ever gets his train out of the siding - frozen leaves on line!!! :P :P Must be hellish having to be paid to drive a train and it ain't going anywhere!!

If I remember rightly, none of the 4.2's have diff lock.

My 5 door 4.2 2.0L manual certainly had a limited slip differential .

But not a button on your dash to lock the diff like your 4.3.

Thanks for the Info.

If it looks like the going is a bit rough maybe I could stick it in Low gear.

Thanks

IMHO mate, you dont want to do that. If I remember right from my auto days, though applies to manuals as well,

if you are on the slippy stuff drive in the highest gear possible to avoid wheelspin and therefore getting stuck.

I would try to keep it at least second gear, once your moving pop it into drive and try and keep it nice and smooth.

No heavy braking, slow down well in advance and you should be ok.

haha

I've got the fan heaters out tonight at my wheels to keep them warm ala F1 !!!!

And a large propane space heater to melt the forecast snow, just in case.

Sheet black ice on our road for the last 2 days and couldn't get the RAV to spin once!!
