Hey,

Ive just returned from the MOT centre and it failed on the right headlight pointing to high??

Does anyone know how easy it is to sort out.

It also failed because the speedo says km but im sure the numbers are in mph. I am trying to find gauges to fit it but cant find them to fit the carlos saintz model??

Please could you let me know if you know the answers to my questions or a web site that can.

Many thnx.

Andy.

speedo is not a testable item

May not be a testable item .....but on an imported car it must have been changed /recalibrated in MPH

Same here with the Sera - it's never been an issue.

you just have to make sure that the testing station logs the mileage in Km rather than miles - saves all the hassle if you sell up !

As far as the headlight goes, they are fairly straightforward to re-aim. Even if you took it to a garage it shouldn't cost more than a tenner or so - 5 minute job tops !

My mistake on MOT...................should have said SVA for imports

Detail here:

SVA Testing

Vehicle Conversion SVA / MOT Testing, And Registration Service at the DVLA,

Vehicles over ten years old,,,,, Only require Fog and Speedo Conversion and MOT test,,, Prior to being Taxed and Registered at the DVLA.

Vehicles under ten years old,,, Require Fog and Speedo Conversion Plus an SVA test and MOT,,, Prior to being Taxed and Registered at the DVLA.

To simplify the Registration process we are happy to Introduce our customers to a number of specialist SVA and MOT testing Companies,

Some also provide a Vehicle Registration Service at the DVLA,

They are a number privately operated testing station, They make a Standard charge for the SVA test of arround £495 inc VOSA test fee's

They will book the SVA test, Do all the conversion work needed Fog Light and Speedo Re Calibration Klm to Miles and complete the test in normally 7 to 10 working days.

PUT A MPH STICKER OVER THE KMH WRITING.

Thnx guys.

I done the lights myself and it was alot easier than I thought. I then took the dash apart just to put a mph sticker on the kmh writting and then took it for a retest.

It failed again??!!

The guy there said I need a dual one now. My one at present only has mph and mph numbers. It also needs the kmh sign and extra numbers but if I put a sticker with the kmh numbers on it the light will not shine through and it would fail.

I am in Northern Ireland due to work, so thats why I think there bein funny with this? Its a totally different set up here they dont fix anything for you they just test yur cr on there machines. (and fail ya??)

I think the easiest thing to do is just to bring it bk to england to get an MOT.

If anyone has any idea where to get the dual gauge from, I would love to hear from them.

Many thnx again.

Andy.

bizarre

my 1963 landrover passed its MOT and the speedo cable is broken!!! Then again with a maximum of 40mph they probably wouldn't know!! Can't get to the speedo cable due to amount of checker plate

What about geting hold of an old speedo from any wreck and taping it onto the top of the dash wi gaffer tape??
