After 50.000 km I start to have a lot of squeeks and rattles in my dashboard / steering wheel / ...

Does anyone else has the same experience?

Can Toyota fix it?

Hi

You have been lucky if it has only started recently. There are a couple of official 'fixes' So get it booked in and let them try

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Does that mean that the "Mastertechs" are no longer just applying sticky felt strips and pads where different surfaces meet?

On my T180 the dealer tried just sticking this stuff everywhere, all the gaps around the radio facia, the high level centre vents, the A-Pillar Trim, where the dashboard met the windscreen, and all the way back to the trim covering the higher level seatbelt mounts on the B-Pillar.

Sadly, it not only looked a total mess, but also didn't solve the fact that the build quality was just pants!

I am really getting ****** off with the dash board plasticity rattle... is it worth taking into the dealer?

If there is a genuine fix from Toyota to the dealers then may-be yes, just beware you may get the odd mark here and there on the compnents as they are removed and refitted.

If there is not a Toyota fix to the dealers, then my advise is NO!

I got in to dealing with the garage about my T180 after all their fixes they tried just didn't fix anything, and ended up with a SR180 that's not too bad to be fair.

Dear Zolder,

My advise:

Trade your car in for another brand.

It only gets worse. The dealer fixes one problem and

at the same time another problems rises.

Be smart: DON'T ever by a Toyota again. It's rubbish

Rattles on the dashboard humm let me think hell ye since long ago. At the service they even went to the forum to check if there was a solution from Toyota and nothing. I don't know if your noise in the steering is the same as mine which they couldn't fix yet 2 times already.

Sadly I have to agree with Farmer *****, but I wish I could change car that easy. I don't earn enough to do this and I'm still paying this one. Was a big effort from my side to buy this took half of my savings and still I had to take a credit. I already complained about this with Toyota Europe they of course forwarded my complain to Toyota Portugal. I have almost 45 000 km on the run so I will take care of this 2 issues plus the noisy clutch pedal on the service review.

If I had money I would for sure change car....

I guess I don't really have the money too especially as my ideal would be 2.5 Audi Estate, but a similar Ford Focus 2.0 d should have bigger boot space. Does anyone know how the Ford compares?

BMW 320d are very good value bit I think I need a bigger boot.

I think I'll be going in the Ford Focus direction next time... Having owned two already and they remained rattle free, unlike the two Auris which have rattled from Day One! :ffs:

I think part of the problem is that the Toyota Dealers were used to having cars that they never had to do anything to other than routine maintenance... Then they aquired the Auris!

Hi

This may help.. I have both the two 'official' fixes the first one, UK RHD car, is to fix a rattle on the right hand side of the dasboard. Hardly any effect!!

The secound one involves removing the top part of the dash, reading the worksheet they left on the desk whilst fetching car, there is a sound kit to reduce the rattling from the pipes that connects to all the air vents. Parts used, sound reducing kit and one piece of trim?.. Results 100% reduction in rattles,it has however been only 400 miles since it was done so .

The dealership said these were officail mods fro MR T

Thing is I hear rattles form the rear know :(
