Slight Engine Noise On Start Up 02 Rav4

Been using my wifes 02 Rav4 over the last couple of days because of the bad weather, great in the snow, seems to drive up almost anything with no problems however

when started there is a slight tapping from the engine until it warms up, about 5 minutes. I think that in the handbook it says that this is normal ????

Once its warm then no issues, its not using any oil and seems to be fine in every other respect. Any ideas anyone and I apologise if this topic has been covered before. I did do a search but couldnt find anything. ;)

The VVTi can be a little "rattly" until warm. Pay no attention to it - that engine is bomb proof.

Surely if the engine was silent it wouldn't be running.
