How Much Is My Car Worth?

After loving the car when I first got it the dash rattles and small boot is starting to take its toll.

My car is 2007 2.0 D4-D (T3 I think) with 25,000 miles on the clock and slight hairline crack on the front bumper (due to hitting a stupid dog). How much is it worth?

I think you need to prepare yourself for a big shock / dissapointment.

In this economic climate depreciation on newish cars is just incredible. But good luck if you decide to do it, there are some gret deals on new cars, just that your price to change doesn't lessen as your trade in has took an addtional hammering to the already hefty usual depreciation.

Spot on again Andy ,

Let me tell you of my experience last month , i went to my dealers because i had become disillusioned with my car because of all the issues i have been having .

On arrival at the showroom i saw that practically all the cars on show were on sale at a knockdown of £4000 off their normal selling price , there was a brand new Auris SR180 priced at £12000. marked " last one ".... The upshot is they valued my Auris tr at £8,500 , thats a loss of £6000 in just six months , bearing in mind that i paid £14,495 . Plus i have added TPA400 parking sensors , TMG Roofspoiler & Colour Coded Side Mouldings , Over £800 worth of extras .

Its now a buyers market , so if your looking to buy only , you are sure to get a cracking deal , but if you are looking to part -x , be prepared to take a hefty hit.

On Toyota's website if you build a 3 door Auris with a 1.4 D-4D engine with metallic paint and no options it quotes £14,955

If you the go to the Autotrader website you can find the following...

2007 07 Reg TOYOTA AURIS 1.4 D-4D T3 DIESEL

5 Doors, Manual, Hatchback, Diesel, 17,000 miles, Metallic Silver

Price: £8,400

This means the dealer paid at least £500 less than that (probably £1,000 less) so they can make some profit.

As well as poor car sales and it being a buyers market the cut in VAT has just knocked another few hundred pounds off the price of a new car.

Sadly the cars probably trading at £7,500 minus damage as Autotrader has 20 similair age/mileage/spec priced at £9-£9.5k.

As mentioned though everything bar very small cars Aygo etc, have taken a huge hit. You could probably get a new pre reg Vectra and not have to put much into the deal, yes its not the most desirable car but deals are out there. Dont make a rash decision though, buy the correct car and stick with it for a long time and depreciation will be tolerable :)

Good Luck

I may go for Verso T180 with similar millage.. would I be looking at £2000 to triad or allot more? But I agree I may just wait until my family grows and have more savings.

Yes prices are dropping quick. I'm looking to buy an 06 Celica T-Sport as my new ''Sunday car'' and it's dropped a thousand this week.

If you have seen one then put a call in and see what they will go to over the phone, it doesnt hurt to ask. Also December is the worst month for selling cars its awful, combine this with the CC and you should get a superb deal.
