Cat Converter Rules

Hi all,

I recently read somewhere that my exhaust system is a de-cat.

Does this mean that I don't have catilytic converters, or does it mean something else?

If I don't have cat cons, is it legal for me to have a custom exhaust system made without cat converters being installed? If so, please tell me because I'm trying to get a qoute from BlueFlame, and I'd quite like to keep maximum performance by leaving out the converters.

Would this also apply if I were to get and engie conversion. i.e. could I still keep the converters off of my car if I were to get the 3SGTE conversion?

Thanks for all of your help guys!

I think that all cars post 92 on a J must have Cats, so if your is earlier than this and it passes the MOT emission test you will fine without one.

Put the catalytic converter concern right out of your head now!

NO UK spec Corolla GTi (AE92) was ever sold in Great Britain with a Catalytic Converter

Infact the Corolla GTi ceased production (early 1992) before 'Cat Laws' were introduced which was in late 1992

Some GTi's did have Cats but these will be imports for other countries and anyway once here are thus excempt anyway due to 'pre 92' ruling.

Sorry stop worrying and if you want a custom made exhaust or an engine change or what ever - don't worry you're fine :yahoo:

The planets over-rated anyway! :P

The difference between me and you is that if the planet does explode into tiny peices, I can drive fast enough because I'm not held back by cat cons! :P :lol:
