hi just wanted to give my impressions of the tte backbox now that i have had it for about 5 days...

it is awesome!!

the sound has definetly improved, much more rumbley and bit louder under acceleration.

also im sorry guys but this box DOES improve performance....maybe for tsport owners it not noticeable due to 'lift' but for me with a 1.6 i can definetly feel the improvement. acceleration is slightly quicker in 1st/2nd gears and the response is much quicker when you put your foot down.

best £25 i have spent ever!!! :P :D

Can't personally comment on any difference in performance as mine was already on when i bought the CTS.

Although the salesman reckoned that it added 3-4bhp......

The K&N Typhoon adds around 7bhp (according to their website) and Gem got 201bhp on the dyno so the difference of 4bhp could have been the backbox.

Although i don't really believe anything salesmen say

as for the performance i wouldnt have beleived it myself if i didnt get to feel it first hand. now that i have driven it around i can ASSURE you that the difference is definetly there as opposed to before i got the box on.

1st and 2nd gears much quicker in the response. thats the only difference i can feel.

fuel consumption is the same although im pretty sure backboxes tend to take more juice....but i dont know seems fine to me.

as you said your cts came with the backbox so you prob wouldnt recognize the difference but if you were to take it off you would prob realise then

Nice rumble sound now when accelerating once the engine has warmed up.

TTE backbox must allow a better through flow as I've noticed a slight burning smell from the rear when I've parked up that I didn't notice with the stock exhaust. Don't know if that's a good sign though. :P

ye same here mate i get a slight burning smell but i think thats cos the box is new so its still getting worn into.

happened to my previous backbox on my old peugeot car too. the smell goes after a while though.

and ye performance and sound have both improved :D

To be fair I never believed that the backbox would give me any gains. Was hoping it would though!

It does feel a tad quicker picking up mindrange... Also I did notice the burning smell when it was first fitted also.

I recall someone on here saying that the manifold, cat and pipes were quite decent on the CTS and the backbox was holding it back. Could be true? Lets hope I can get near Gems pushout on the RR day!

I would agree with the general consensus, the TTE Backbox should have been fitted as standard.

I cant think of any downside to it over the standard box, unless it rots away.....

if you sad that it came with it then take it off and put on a standard box and experience 'standard driving' :P
