Corolla 2002 T2 D-4d Bio-diesel

Hi,

Having recently purchased a used diesel Corolla T2 D-4D 2.0l on a '02 plate, and I am interested in saving a few pounds by using Bio-diesel.

Before I do such a thing I would just like to know if there will be any adverse affects on the car. My main concern is that the fuel pump may pack its bags depending on the model used in the car as this tends to be the weakest link and most expensive barrier to using bio-diesel for the average car if all goes wrong.

Does anyone know specifically what fuel pumps are used in this model of Corolla?

ALSO

Has anyone had any issues caused by using good biodiesel?

Regards,

Craig

Firstly welcome to the club

This won’t answer the question specifically to the Rolla, however putting non EN590 (Max 5% Bio Mix) diesel in your car should be done with caution. Filling a modern Diesel with unregulated fuel in my opinion isn’t worth the risk as the savings won’t add up to enough should the fuel pump/injectors fail. Maybe when this is trialled more thoroughly I would try it but at present I wouldn’t.

Older vehicles aren’t engineered to keep the emissions low so they have more tolerance to potentially poor quality fuel.

Good Luck Whatever your decision. ;)

Thanks for your advice.

I think I'll stick to regular diesel for the moment since Morissons are doing a great deal 102.9p in my area, this is a bargain since I can only buy Bio-Diesel for 100p! At these prices it's not even worth considering.
