Gen 7 Vvti Key Transponder

I have just bought a 2001 Celica VVT-i bought this with only one key managed to get a copy blank key from eBay and cut to my car but am having problems programming the alarm and immobiliser have looked at various ways like the 5 switches of the internal lock for the wireless entry and the brake and accelertor dance to get the immoboliser to work but no joy I have called Toyota and they say I need to come down to them pay £30 and have my key scanned? Is this the only way around this as a locksmith I was talking to said this was money for nothing. I'd appreciate any advice.

Hi Just tried another way of setting the remote part of the key involving opening the door and closing it twice and got the car into add mode but cant seem to get the new key from eBay to programme to it any one got any ideas before i end up at toyotas on tuesday?
