Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Whats it for? :D

Beware of the old wives tales - like rubbing a lemon on stainless steel; or bicarb of soda to clean things; as they could mark glass.

If its to prevent frost on the inside/outside of the cars windows, have you tried trace cables - minimal current but effective at keeping things above 0C. You can superglue them onto the glass - same effect as the Ford cars but less expensive!! Oh, but keep the wires inside as they make a mess of the Wiper Blades.

Or what about an umbrella? I've also heard that garages are good??? (It does work as that is where I keep all my paint!).

Extend your house eaves to cover the car (assuming you live in a house...if not, then try a tent awning)

Park under a low tree. Grow a hedge and shape it as a tunnel.

Move to Africa.

Or try short term emigration like wot the birds do.

There was a post last winter here where folk added there 'fixes'...

Do let us know whats most effective so we don't waste any money! ;)

oh, and one last thing - one puts salt on ice to melt it - so mixing a saline solution in a gelatine base, will, I guess do the job?

Halfrauds sell it....I use it and it does what is says on the bottle.... :D :D

It wont completly stop the ice but it stops it forming a thick coating.. you can then just use your wipers to clear the screen....Saves ages on the scraping and de-icing in the morning....

It's very sticky when on your hands.....

Worth the outlay ....

Use the Halfrods stuff myself if the forecast is for frost and I have an early start - as Chatman says, if won't avoid an iced screen but it makes it easier to clear.

The alternative is to leave very early: I sometimes leave at 4am to catch an early flight and my car is frost free - sometimes my wife later tells me she had to scrape her car at 8:30. Not sure why, though I could probably make a wild(ly wrong) guess.

Have you ever the phrase "Never eat yellow snow" well that's cos it contains nastys, one is urea which is found in urine. Urea has been used to prevent frosting on road surfaces. ............

.......... Well you could work out where this is leading to.

Never tried it myself but any takers out there?:rolleyes:

It's always coldest before the dawn..... clear skies, radiation of heat, adiabatic lapse rate... blah blah (Actually, it's got nothing to do with adiabatic lapse rate, but I just like the way it scans...)

My son uses a hair gel which is like gloop. It sticks to anything. would stop the ice but probably obscure the view.
