98 Corolla Immobiliser?

Hi,

Im trying to find out if my 1998 Toyota Corolla has an engine immobiliser? I open my car door with a key and turn the key in the engine, is there an immobiliser in the key?

If the car starts then, no there isn't.

The car shouldn't start unless you use the fob to unlock the door rather than just the key. At least, that's what happens with my dads coupe.

there is one, and the key actually has a transponder in the actual plastic bit of the key and there is a sensor thing near the barrel, so once the key is in the barrel the immobiliser deactivates! making it impossible to hotwire the car!! :)
