Help, Gearbox Problems

Hi everyone. I bought a 2002 Yaris last month, it's got around 57,000 miles on it's clock (It's my first ever car :) ) and i'm having a few problems with the gearbox. It started off occasionally jamming when I tried to go into 3rd gear, so I would have to go back into 2nd gear and try again. Now it's doing it nearly all the time and I have no idea why. Also sometimes when i pop it into reverse and gently put my foot on the accelerator it makes a horrible noise and then the gear stick pops back into neutral on it's own. I have it under warrenty and i'm thinking about taking it back to the dealer so that they can take a look at it, but i'm wondering if anyone else maybe knows what the problem might be? Any info would be greatly appreciated, I really love my yaris and i'm hoping it's not all going wrong :(
