Removing Covers On Front Pillars

Recommended Posts

I want to remove the plastic cover on my drivers side windscreen pillar to run a cable up to the sun visor for my hands free kit for my mobile phone.

Has anyone done this yet. My new stereo comes with integrated bluetooth, both stereo for playing music from the phone and for making calls. the microphone is a hard wired unit and I want to fit it near the sun visor without wires showing.

This will all be fitted when I upgrade my Speakers , change the bulbs on the centre console, and fit the scangauge in the dash.

I fitted my mic for the phone on top of the part that slides out to fit the radio instead of running the cable all the way round the screen. It seems to work fine there, so you might want to try that out first to save on the messing around.

Removing the A-pillar trim is easy: just pull it sideways (towards the inside mirror) starting at the top.

But when fitting my carkit I found that placing the microphone on the A-pillar or near the

inside mirror produced a lot of wind noises when I had the heater on the windscreen.

So instead of that I put it at the top of the center console, just as Gordon suggests.

Here's a (very dark) pic of my setup.

Thanks guys, I think I may go the route of Jan and Gordon.
