Automatic Problem

Just bought my first rav 4 a few months ago.Everything was fine until last weekend when ,what i think and hope not,was a problem with the automatic gearbox.Start the motor (petrol 61000 )and engage drive and when you go to pull away it feels as if the gearbox is in 2nd.As you accelarate and it is about to change up the box the thing slows down and then it gives a slight bang and then goes into top.It only seems to do this in the lower gears and the top gear and overdrive are not affected.If any members can give me any clues as to what the problem might be or how to solve it please get in touch. Thanks for the reply but that was the first thing i checked.Is it possiable that it could be electrical.And can anyone recommend somebody.
