Light On Dashboard

Hi guys, I have a G Reg ST185 Import

There is a light on the righthand side of the dash board that is always on.

I have been trying to research this but haven't found anything yet.

It looks like a picture of a car and light beams. A friend sugested it was similar to his brake warning lights- it stays on to idicate they are working.

Surely it would be better for a warning light to come on when there's a problem, not go out.

I have never had any problems with the car, and the brakes work! lol

What does this mean?

could just be a fault, but on the st205 that light on the dash means headlights on!! simple as

on the st202 that light comes on (amber) when there is a fault with the brake lights.

it illuminates and latches when i press the brakes for the first time in a journey.

reason on my car is the centre brake light bulb has gone, although i have been lazy and done nothing about it as it is only an advisory on the MOT. annoying light though, perhaps i should get round to fixing that bulb.

Yeah it is that, lights up after I apply the brakes and stays on until the next startup.

Just trying to find the cause...

Could non standard bulbs trigger this?

I suppose I could go super eco and not use my brakes ;)

If you're using LED bulbs, that can trigger it as they consume a lot less power than standard 21W bulbs.

Otherwise, if all the bulbs are actually working try checking the bulb contacts are nice and clean in the light fittings.
