Error Code P0755 - Any Ideas

Hi all!

Just wondered if anyone can give me a clue on the problem with my aunts year 2000 1600cc auto corolla. She has had the AA out on 5 occasions because of an engine warning light on the dash, and they have advised it's throwing back a fault code of P0755 "Shift Solenoid". Has anyone got a clue as to how much this would cost to fix as the local garage are saying it needs a gearbox strip down to fuind the fault!! Also she is unsure whether to drive it or not.

Any help/advice would be great!!!

Thank you

Doc

Does the car stall/gears cant be selected? Do the AA come out because of the warning light? Can you elaborate further?

If its the gearbox solenoid and its in the gearbox then a strip down would be required. As for the cost then Mr T would be able to price the part, after that you would be best seeing if a pattern part is available from a motor factor. Get an estimate from a Gearbox specialist for a strip down and part change and you have your cost.

If its safe to drive really depends on the 1st questions.

To drjonesguru, Shift solenoid B malfunction. Forget local garage stripdown, that's one for Toyota. I would cough up for an hr's diagnostics check with the correct hardware/software.

Regards, Beagh.
