Looking For A Cosmetic Part And A Question About Controls

Hi all...

Sorry but I am about as techno-minded as a weasel so forgive my ignorance.

Firstly ... anyone know where I can get a new door for the sunglasses compartment in the roof of our X reg Avensis (grey interior) ?

Secondly... ditto the owners manual of 'do's' and 'don'ts'

And finally, it's an automatic and there are two buttons to the right of the gear stick named 'PWR' and 'SNOW'... what do they do?

Sorry to sound dim, but I'm only a passenger and this is only my wife's second car (the Ford not having such wonders)

Any other things we may need to know about the VVTi's will be appreciated :)

New part try eBay, scrap yards or just goto Toyota and order a new bit.

PWR means the gears won't change until higher revs and the changes are slightly quicker if less smooth for better acceleration.

SNOW means the car starts of in 2nd gear so it's less likely to spin the wheels. You'll probably never bother using either of them, so much so that on newer auto's they don't even feature such buttons.

VVTi's, if it's a 1.8 check for burning oil, there notorious for it, if it starts using plenty get it to Toyota ASAP and they might offer you a new engine. If its the 2.0 there less problematic just make sure to keep an eye on the head gasket.

Many thanks James, just been out for a spin and fuel consumption seems pretty amazing... if that guage is correct then 'Toya' is waaaay better than the Ford ever was :)
