Dump Valve

I would not have thought so since it will not improve performance in a Diesel as far as I am aware. It would sound pretty silly too.

In my opinion, accompanied by a nice exhaust system dump valve sounds pretty nice and sporty!

But unless it apears in a popper rally car you will look a tit with one in a Auris.

I have to wonder why you have T180, you could buy a second hand Scooby or a Skyline for the fraction of the price of T180 where you achieve the sound, look and drive you want!

It doesn't necessarily have to be a rally car, it's enough that the car looks nice and sporty. Everyone can make Auris look sporty by adding just a few details: Wide tyres with big rims, proper lowering, sporty rear silencer, and maybe something else depending on driver's taste. After these mods dump valve will fit your Auris as good as every other car. People will admire you, not laugh at you.

BOVs on Diesel engines are just a waste of time and money IMHO. They're not needed b/c they won't give any kind of performance nor prevent the turbocharger's damage, as in petrol engines... by contrary, they can shorten turbo's life...

You be the judges of that:

and here's one just for fun :)

Edit: of course it's a matter of personal taste, so each one can do as he/she likes. In diesels, bovs are just for sound :)...

There is no mechanical reason or advantage for fitting a dump valve to the T180 engine.

This engine employs a variable geometry turbo coupled to an advanced gas return valve. These together negate the reason for fitting dump valves as done to some petrol turbo engines.

IMO they also sound stupid. I remember using a friends Scooby and boy did his dump valve seriously pi88 me off.

only want one for the sound

Mechanical advantage doesn't seem to be Boozehound's goal...

Correct! As I said, it's a matter of personal taste or preference.

The TDI sounds crap with BOV... now the skyline (which I had previously sounded mad but it messed up my air flow meter)

That is silly, you lose money as soon as you drive out of the car dealer.

I agree with Boozehound, it is always better if the car is new.

Then you can be sure about some certain things because of the warranty.

I agree with you Modena, the price drops dramatically after you drive out

of the dealer, but quality costs. It's sad but it's true.

And its all about the new smell which i have been able to maintain :) i have heard the troubles people have had with the second hand scoobys. In particular the transmission and turbos which cos an awful lot to replace. Also if u buy them cars second hand it is silly cos they have prob been likely ripped on the road quite alot because thats why people buy them

Quoted for Irony.

Quite; why buy someone else's trouble when you can buy a new car, and make your own.

won't have to be angry to the whole world

I bought my car second hand its 2007 model, still smells and looks new. Ok I mean there are some scratches inside the car and a bit outside, but any car is prone to that. I saved about 4-5 grand buying second hand.

Also we are talking about a little Toyota not some high powered beast that gets thrashed usually...
