Just got our new Rav4 XTR and we are loving it however, does anyone know how

to stop it announcing a bluetooth connection everytime we start the car?

It's going to get irritating very quickly...

Is this just a visual indication or an audible announcement? Mine just has a visual message that stays on the screen for about 10 or 12 seconds

Mine is only visual too (Can't remember ever turning an audible one off). I think it stays on screen for 3 or 4 secs.

It's audio - there is no screen. I think this is unique to the XTR which has had bluetooth added

almost as an afterthought.

Which screen? The big satnav one? Or the little one in the bottom of the cluster?

I have BT with no satnav, but haven't used it yet so don't know - I follow with interest!

Ahhhhhhh! - mine comes up on the satnav screen so it is probably a completely different arrangement. Is there any way you can get to a menu screen with the XTR setup?

I've got a spare TFT screen at home  It doesn't speak to me about teeth or colours.

No screen at all. bluetooth is set up entirely using voice recognition commands.

So, if you turn the announcement off, how will you know your phone has connected? (Apart from it not working, when you want to use it).

Yeah, I recently had a courtesy XTR that shouted: <(allegedly) my voice muttering something> CONNECTED! (and the "connected" bit was a female voice) every time I entered the car...followed closely with me saying:"That sounds nothing like me!!!"... every time.

...Followed by "Please repeat command!" :) No, just joking. but I had visions of a nice little John-Clease-esque conversation with the car that ends with a branch-slamming-accross-bonnet situation...

Anyways, I thought, that would drive me bonkers. A nice little beep, or at least the "annoying woman" as I like to call her (not the wife!) announcing the whole sentence (in an indoor voice)... would be better.

I haven't found a way to do it yet. Although a mate's RAV had a slightly less annoying "Toyota bluetooth connected" rendition by the annoying woman...

That doesn't help at all. Sorry. I feel your pain, though. :)
