Welcome to the club, best asking a mod to shift this to the Rav section, where you will get a whole

lot of opinions on the run flats fitted to the T180.

We all love the T180 and would gladdy sell family members to get one :D :D

But and it's a big BUT those run flats kill it dead and as that I have held off getting one... Spending silly money getting the tyre fixed in what should be a simple task.....

Others may chip in but if I was you i'd go for the XTR and chip it up.... :D :D :D

Well my Sept 2008 T180 is getting better by the day, absolutely no complaints but like most diesels it is slow to warm up.

I might well complain when or if I get a puncture but, tempting providence here, I only had one flat tyre on my previous Rav 4 in five years and that was in my garage!

How many T180 have actually had a puncture? Compare this with the number sold if any one has this info.

Best wishes to all for a Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Prosperous New Year, and good Rav-ing

Guy

Well Poshaze, I've got to wear a couple of different hats here, cos i would love a T180 and i have owned 3 ravs spanning 13yrs + i have dragged an unused spare wheel around never ever having had a puncture, to be fair though i am a very low mileage user, Also i currently own a XT4 with a spare wheel on the back, and a performance chip under the bonnet, I may joke on here that this gives my car T180 performance, it doesn't but its a happy compromise which i feel gives me the best of both cars..ie a slightly quicker Rav with decent economy + a spare wheel, but then again i am always wondering what that 177 bhp must be like

Purely out of curiosity if you went to a Toyota dealer and said i want to order a brand new T/SR 180, but i don't want the runflats i wonder if they would accomodate you..

Poshaze, like you I deliberated over what Rav to get, almost 4 moths infact. T180 or xtr/4/5. The only negative I had was the runflats like most on the forums. But what car doesnt have something that makes you think twice? I choose the T180, 06 plate in Yew green. I love it!!...Deffinately the right descision, well for me anyway. Great spec, great handling and the extra power is deffinately a must. Good luck in your choice but whatever you decide Iam sure you will not be disappointed as they are all great cars!!

I'm biased as I managed to get a T180 without RFTs (LHD in Spain).

After coming from various GTIs and an Impreza turbo, my 4.2 with its 116 horses did rather grate for the five years I had it. And now I have the new one it is such a nice experience to be able to accelerate uphill on the motorway.

Can I also add that I LOVE keyless go... The number of times I've got out with a toddler or shopping in one arm to find the car key is in a pocket in THAT side  No more contortionism to open or close the car! and no more spikey keys in pockets (well, one less anyway...). Auto lights are a bit of a gimmick, but auto wipers function extremely well too.

My 2p worth.

Hi , When I bought my T180 new last June I was really wanting an XT5 . I was told T180 =3 week delivery same for an XT3 or 15 week wait for an XT5. I cant remember the delivery times for the other models. Weather those times were genuine or not I have no way of knowing . It could be I was being pushed towards a T180 I dont know. However I didnt want to wait 15 weeks so I thought do I buy the T180 with all the toys I want or buy the XT3 and spend the next 5 or 6 years wishing I had bought the T180. I have done approx 4,500 miles in mine since new and its a fantastic car. I have had a puncture which was well documented on this forum and yes it was a bloody nuisance and a pain to get sorted but as has been said before many times there are many things that can stop cars not just tyres. Think of the safety aspects of the runflats. If you had a puncture would you rather be on standard tyres and possibly lose control at speed or on runflats and retain some control. The fuel consumption isnt to bad on the T180 either and the accelleration is great for a big car. I,m glad I bought my T180 .In my book the toys and performance tip the balance with just a tad concern about getting punctures. Toyotas customer service people will provide you with a list of dealers both Toyota and independants who can repair the tyres which you can pop in your glovebox Hope this helps Moonraker

Story:

When I decided earlier this year that I was going to ( and not without some misgivings ) swop my Vitara for a RAV XT-5, my kid brother said "see what sort of deal you can get on two identical ones"

We ended up doing a test drive on the M1 on a Sunday morning. The sales guy had got tied up with another customer so just gave us his bosses T180 to try as it was the nearest thing to an XT-5 they had. 'Brother - a very experienced ex-driving instructor said he would drive and I could test the ride from a passengers point of view.

We drove very gingerly through the built up area to the Motorway slip road ( straight, long and up a good gradient ) He gave it about half throttle and by the top of the sliproad we had just about managed to get back into the front seats! Incredible fun - but we bought a pair of XT-5s with consecutive registrations as a "Fleet" deal. Most comfortable, and economical car I've ever had.
