Hi,

I have recently had a lot of trouble with the electric cooling fan on a Toyota Carina II 1991. It comes on all the time and some times it is always off. what do you think it could be?

Hi, what sort of water temperature readings are you getting when the fan is on?

Hi,

Hi. This is my car, and although I've had no problems with the fan, the following applies. If the cooling fan fails to switch on or off there is either a fault in the relay or temperature switch, apart from any electrical leads or connections which may be shorting on nearby metal work. I know from experience elsewhere with electrics that this can be pin head sized, so a quick cheap fix may be to run insulation tape over all wires, and check where they earth to make sure all is bright and well connected. Another problem may be worn brushes. Failing that a visit to your local scrap car merchant will be the cheapest to replace. Best wishes for the New year. Sid.
