Rough Running When Hot

Hi there I was wondering if anybody can help me with this problem, I have a 1995 Carina e, the car broke down recently and I was told it was the head gasket, (I was not with car when it broke down) i changed the head gasket and also the water pump as this was leaking so I assumed this was to blame. Up until this work was done the car drove fine. Now when it is started from cold it is ok when it is hot Nos 1 + 2 develope a problem and do not fire, I have checked the leads and they are ok and sparking all the way to the plug, then I thought it was the injectors so I swaped 1+2 for 3+4 and the problem is still there on 1+2 I checked the feed to injectors with a noid light and that is ok, I have also checked the commpression which is again ok, I have also disconected Battery for 30mins to reset the engine management, and I have replaced the lean burn sensor, I am really stuck, thanks Tony

Hi. What a bummer! With older type cars this type of problem indicated 1 or all of the following, ( I have to say that modern cars leave me cold with their management systems, however, here goes and maybe something will ring a bell. Where you had a coil and condensor this usually indicated that one or the other was on its way out, as when they became warm the electrical system broke down. Alternatively there may have been a loose connection on the LT circuit. Tracking, or leakage of the HT circuit to ground due to dirt, dampness or damage. You say that the electrical circuit sparks all the way to the plug, but I assume that's with the plug out and grounded. It may be worth investing in a diagnostic unit, which I understand is affordable from Talk to my car . com. This would enable you to get a before and after diagnosis which should do the trick. All the best for the New Year. Sid.
