please help :( lol

i have the 89bhp E12 and i was wondering what makes the 115bhp model different??

is the difference the injectors or the turbo being bigger??? i want to know so i can fit them to my car to make it 115bhp :D

i then want to chip it for even more power :)

cheers!

Looking at this chart Chips i would guess the 90 PS version wont be intercooled or something like that as its not possible to get the power output the same with a remap.

Changing injectors and stuff in an attempt to match the higher output version would be a waste of money as the parts will be very expensive, chipping as per the link will get you to 110PS approx.

surely second hand injectors and turbo would be cheapish from a breakers yard?

if the newer model is intercooled would that mean if i changed the injectors and turbo [if the turbo is even different] the power output wouldnt be increased much because of the lack of air?

Cheapish depends on your interpretation! I wouldn’t be surprised to see new injectors and turbo at £2k, so used they will still be expensive.

I would guess that the reason the power difference is there is because the 2 models have a fundamental difference e.g. intercooler. As normally the same engine can be chipped to the same power if the only difference is the original factory mapping.

Yes, no intercooler would make it difficult to extract more power due to lack of cooled air.

Someone on here will confirm one way or the other.

If you do look at getting a chip be very careful where you get it from...

...i think for your model you can get a tte one, which is good because if it goes wrong u got something to fall back on where as if u do what i did your left with a faulty chip that cost an arm and a leg (not literally) but yeh bottom line just be sure you get it from a good dealer....

I think is it 'King Parts' or 'Parts King' is somewhere in the forums he is pretty clued up cause i believe they have a new range of chips coming out...

... best option for power gains is get a more powerful car...

... get the SR D-4-D :P

i think that the difference is different engines

not 100% sure but think your engine is older one, cos in newer model corolla's (facelift i think) they replaced the diesel engine with 2 new ones either:

- 1.4 diesel with bout 90bhp

- 2.0 diesel with bout 115bhp

With the facelift 2.0 D-4-D they are tuned at 110bhp

The SR for reasons unknown to me is just slightly more at 116bhp

don't think they are mate, think there the same just the SR looks nicer, cos my 2.0 D-4-D T3 had the 116bhp

Are you 100% about that because on the TTE website they do a Performance chip for the 110bhp 2.0 D-4-D but not one for the SR cause I was looking for a TTE one for my car...

... I'll take another look

i'm 100% sure my T3 was the 116bhp. might be the same engine they just might have made adjustment for later ones or something, it won't be a different engine cos that just wouldn't make sense cost wise for toyota

From June 2003 the 2.0 D-4D T3 was 116PS (114 BHP). I've got one and love it. :D
