Toyota Corolla Damage?

Hi,

On the way to work on an extremely cold morning i noticed the the temperature was creeping up so i coasted my S reg 2.0 diesel corolla to a garage 1 mile away. At the garage we noticed that the water (with plenty of antifreeze in) was draining out from below the engine. They said it was the water pump and i got them to replace it last Thursday 18/12/08. Ever since it has been really tappity and has a lack of power. I thought it was wrongly timed and took it back, thay said thay noticed this and had timed it twice ( whitch they did not tell me when i picked it up ) and that it was probable piston damage caused by overheating. Can anyone confirm this as the car was not on top of the red and did not stay hot for long as i coasted it.

Cheers, IF.
