Basically, i got my rear pads and disc changed recently privately (by a mechanic in the family)

since getting the car back, the rear left wheel doesnt seem work as a handbrake, thou normal brakes works fine.

anyway of adjusting this my self? i was told its simple, remove the alloy, remove the rubber cover and adjust using a screw driver?.. and also how to i adjust the tightness of the handbrake inside (the lever)

have a look in my how to change brakes, its same for both t sport and diesel

step 10, or there is a picture of what you want on step 8.

leave the wheel that is working fine. take your faulty side wheel off, take the rubber plug off and bring it round to the 6 o clock position, look for the adjuster and spin it, on my car i have them so moving the adjuster downwards will tighten the handbrake up. on some cars it will be pushing the adjuster upwards to tighten it up.

i would try downwards first.

hope this helps.

I have the same problem.

No amount of adjusting will correct mine, local mechanic has recommended replacing the springs on the shoes as they are "Sh1te"

One side is enough to hold the car, but on hills i do park in gear!

I'm at a bit of a loss to see how rubbish springs could give you a rubbish handbrake.

The springs hold the shoes in, preventing them touching the disc. In the event that a spring broke it would send the shoe into the disc.

By pulling the handbrake, your're basically defeating the spring. in a nutshell, having nackered springs would give you a better handbrake.

Just going with what my mechanic said.

Prior to it doing that it was making a horrible scraping noise when driving and the whole brake disc was extremely hot to the touch as though the shoe had stayed in the 'handbrake on' position.
