Toyota are set today to post their first financial loss for many years...................Just over a billion pounds

It has been attributed to the world economic downturn.

They say that cost cutting measures will be needed. :(

Looking on the bright side, though, would you rather be the boss of Toyota or General Motors?

With the range of models available, Toyota isn't going to go out of business :D

I think Toyota will survive :)

The carmaker recorded an operating profit of 2.27 trillion yen last year

Something like a projected £1B loss this yeah, compared to over £9Bn proffit last year, I'd still say they are in a better situation then many!

I could easily loose £1b so they aren't doing bad.

It's all swings and roundabouts, with the reliability, quality and service (none of which are on my fiat) they will survive

Incidently doesn't anyone else find it staggering that they only year they ave ever registered a loss bar this year was their first one!? For a new car maker to be turning over a profit from year two is incredible!

Toyota are believed to be sitting on around £70 billion in cash from all their previous profits, so we've got around 70 years before they run out of money!

I'd reckon theres a bit of jumping on the bandwagon whilst its safe to do so to write off capital etc without getting terrible publicity. Up til 6 months ago, there was finance about!! The financial years will end before that I'm sure.

Its next years that needs a bit of concern....

Agreed

Im sure 70 years of profit and the 500 companys or so that make up Toyota will REALLY struggle....
