There has been lots on here with regard to these....I gather your RAV is a 4.3 model...

The below picture shows one fitted to my RAV 4.2 model...I also think these may fit in the newer models as well ;) ;) (others may add more)

On eBay they have loads... but as your in SPain I may be wrong for your neck of the woods....

Any how this keeps my Labrador happy on the back :D :D :D :D :D

I've got Raveen's car (Premium) and chatman's dog-guard - can I comment? :)

The dog guard was a left-over from my 4.2, bought new with the car, which I've fitted to the 4.3.

Does it do the job? Yes. Would I recommend it? No, but not because of the dog guard; because of where Mr T decided to put the mounting points in the boot; so unless there has been a radical redesign I imagine the 4.3 guard is the same. Both upper and lower mounts are half-way into the boot, rather than all the way in up against the seat backs. This seems ridiculous, and perhaps someone can point out what I'm missing, but I really don't understand it. If my dog was smaller and/or wirier (??) he could probably duck under the guard and come up close against the back seat. If I mounted it like that he would be forced close to the back door for the journey, yet with a big gap between him and the back seat - and he only needs the left or right half of the boot, and the guard would stop us putting anything of any size on the other side, like a pushchair.

Actually what we've done is to ignore the lower mounting points in the 4.3 (eyes on the floor in the 4.2 as above, now I guess the square plastic eyes on the wheel arches in the 4.3) and to push the mesh forward and put the rear headrests through it, so it's held like that. Sorry if this breaches 1001 health and safety regs, but to me, that's where it should have been in the first place. Problem is it's a bit more fiddly to drop a seat back if I buy something long-ish - so much for the EasyFlat system!!

Hope this helps (!)

Thanks, must check out if the new guard is any different, maybe a stupid question here but do the seats not slide back to meet the mesh on the guard or there is always this gap between them. I didnt even notice where the mounting points are in the boot, will check it out tomorrow.

We have border collie beautiful dog aged 14 now. He has never traveled in the back of the car as he gets horrendously travel sick. Instead he loves being in the front passenger well. He can stay there for hours on a journey. It's also a lot safer as he has nowhere to travel if there is an accident. I love my mutt.

By the way he's called Ralph cos that is what he did after we picked him up from a farm in Wales and drove back to Leicester. He ralphed all the way home.

The law here prohibits dogs being transported it the front of the car, they are quiet strict about it around where I live, so thats not an option for me, nice story anyway, thanks.

2 German shepherds here to keep me on my toes....

The dog guard in Chatmans photo is not a dog guard  it's a cargo net ;)

The Toyota dog guard is a steel mesh affair that would keep any beast from entering the car, it is a solid construction but mounts in a similar way to the cargo net, but without the gaps. A lot of people remove them from the car and end up selling them on eBay as dog guards

Kingo

That's a fair comment - but the mounts are STILL in the wrong place, for either!

I'm using a cargo net as a dog guard. I obtained the guard from eBay for £21 including delivery - there was plenty to bid on when I was looking. The new Toyota price is somewhat mouthwateringly expensive. Suggest you try eBay
