got a 04 avensis which i taxi in

it started as a knocking noise that you could feel through the brake or clutch pedal which has now became more of a vibration through the whole car. this can be felt when reveing up through the gears or slowing down. someone said at the begining that it was a thrust bearing but a customer said it might be the flywheel

To taximan ni,

Noise of release bearing would tend to stop when clutch pedal pressed, i would tend to go along with the faulty flywheel unfortunately.

Regards, Beagh.

To taximan ni,

You have what is known as a DMF flywheel setup (Dual Mass Flywheel) these are fitted to pretty much every modern diesel engine car in one form or another that you could care to mention. Pretty hot topic on forum regarding these when they fail ( leave that for others to discuss) best thing you can do is go in to your local Toyota dealer & have car taken for test drive. You may well have another problem all together?????

Regards, Beagh.
