Woes For The Day

Well driving my t sport has been a bit of a bother today.

firstly my headlight blew, when i went to change the bulb, the replacement blew and also took the fuse out with it. - and that was the spare fuse. ball !Removed!. I have ordered some philips bulbs, was tempted to go down the HID route but was worried by MOT + local fuzz.

More alarmingly, regular forum members will know i like to cane the car and where i live, roads are virtually empty and my 15 mile drive to work takes 20 minutes - on a bad day. Today, on the way home after some rather abrupt stops my brake pedal decided to go to the floor! WHOOPS, managed to scrape round the corner but T sport handling is not that great on the edge!

looks like i've boiled the brake fluid. so that will need changing, pedal pressure has come back but when it gets hot it keeps going to the floor. and that was DOT 5.1 fluid as well.

Gonna get decent brake fluid this time round, anyone got any recommendations? i was using comma before, but won't be doing that again.

How old is your car and when was the brake fluid last changed?

Toyota do recommend changing it every TWO years.....................It may just save your life...............or someone elses ;)

changed the fluid about 3 months ago after i bust a brake disc. brake fluid is changed every year anyway as it costs peanuts. i go through front brake pads in about 20k, although i've yet to see 20k as the discs broke first.

i'm going to get some of that Mobil 1 brake fluid i think. car is stopping but pedal feels spongy, might be the brake hoses expanding, anyone on here got stainless brake lines?

yeah braided brake lines should help

but it really takes a lot of serious ragging to boil brake fluid an to keep losing the pedal like that could it not be possibly losing pressure some kinda leak

i had similar thing on golf i had turned out to be split pipe, was hard to notice, if remember right it was brake servo pipe

main thing is i would really calm down til you solve it, otherwise you could kill yourself or someone else if there that bad
