Navigation Upgrade

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone has upgraded to the latest Nav Disc, as I understand it allows info entry on the move!

If so, is it worth it, as with the euro as it is, the cost is about £150 from the Toyota site!, unless it is cheaper from dealers.

Thanks in advance.

Merry Christmas Chris.

I have not upgraded this year but I upgraded the disc last year. You do get the complete map of Europe which equates to 4 discs and it cost me around £150. I wish they would do just the map of the UK as I think it is a bit of a con that you have to buy the lot. I cannot understand why Dealers cannot remove this facility for free instead of us purchasing an updated disc.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our Readers :newyear::thumbsup:

I'd be grateful if it could be confirmed that it does allow entry on the move - the only alternative I've found is Lockpick 3 from CoastalETech in Florida (a bit cheaper at US$99 though)

Yep, it allowed the entry of a destination and then to start the route guidance all from the touch screen whilst the car was moving at 60mph. Other forums have reported that the new software version is a little inconsistent about what it will and will not let you do when moving (sorry don't have a link). I don't envisage wanting to operate it whilst at speed and I find other people fiddling with the controls whilst I'm driving to be distracting (probably because I'm still over protective of my Prius and I don't want everyone elses greasy finger prints adding to my greasy finger prints).

Sorry, I don't know, as my car came with the latest version of the navigation discs.

Hi

with the latest navigation system disks installed, can you enter a full post code search or are we still limited??

Erm, I haven't mastered the satnav menu system and I've only stumbled across the postcode entry screen once or twice, but if I recall correctly it was only possible to enter a partial postcode.

We have the disk but it does NOT allow entry on the move and never will as its illegal to do so in the UK and many countries (under the mobile phone law) This is a good thing as you cant get done for using a navigation device when moving as its impossible to alter it when moving!! and local police DO prosecute for this with Tom Toms and the like.

the Disks are 4 DVD"S with europe being split into zones with the UK on 2 of the 4 disks...

it is till cheaper form the web site but often you may find removing the old NAV disk tricky until your remember to slide the lever to the left before pressing down to eject the DVD.

The postcode entry is still partial with street as full postcode entry is patented by TomTOM and not used on Navteq based systems also thats better as 75% of time you do not know the last 2 letters of a postcode anyway!!

It will never be possible to enter navigation details when on the move due to EU legislation however you CAN use the voice control to go to preset destinations easily 'Go HOme" is very reliable and I use that a lot...
