The amount of enquiries has been outstanding, apparantly its great fun to drive

I would love one of these as my daily run around :)

Inchcape in Oxford have a black iQ2 in - however its not yet taxed so no test drive  Although they did fire it up and let me twiddle all the knobs and press all the buttons  I sat in front and back and it was very spacious (even behind passenger seat) and I am 6 2"

Should be able to have a go on Friday and then place my order.

Apparently there are a few cars already in the country available to purchase so wait time will only be 1 - 2 weeks!!!

If it drives as good as it looks then I might have one by the middle of Jan.

I don't think black suits the car but then seeing as I want a white one it doesn't really matter!

Toll House Gatwick told me they won't have any till mid/end of Jan, so put that idea on hold. Have sourced something else with a bit more space than the IQ to replace my Gallant.

And NO i'm afraid it's not a Toyota.

Do we know which colours will be available at launch in the UK?

Is it just a choice of black or white, as mentioned in some press reports

or do we get a 3rd colour choice with Amethyst (purple) as is suggested on the toyota.co.uk page?

http://www.toyota.co.uk/cgi-bin/toyota/bv/...&id=iQ_exp#

:) The WHITE iQ certainly stands out more - or it did at the

London Motor Show and more recently at the Trafford

Shopping Centre Manchester.

Do we know if iQs come into the UK at Grimsby Docks as many Toyotas do?

If so, I will go and have a look for them and try taking pics. B)

That wasn't what I was told, but it could be true - Toytoa salesmen always tell the truth don't they -

The way I heard it even all the dealer display cars aren't here yet, never mind any cars available to purchase :P

Certainly plenty of room for 2 people, which is all I need - far roomier than the Smart - not at all claustrophobic like the Smart -

the dashboard is a bit basic for a 'premium product' but I could live with that if it rides and handles well.

A truly innovative car. I didnt ask for a test drive on trade plates because the one I've seen is an automatic, and I'd want a manual.

I need to try and find a dealer with a iQ (manual box) - should be possible to find one soon me thinks :)

We had our IQ2 demo delivered on monday. Also in black.

I PDI'd/roadtested it this afternoon, very small car indeed - quite hard to get the ramp legs under it properly!

Alot more room inside the cabin than i was expecting, some nice touches with controls etc too.

Ours has a detatchable 'glove box/bag' that press studs onto the passenger side of the dash - different.

Drove very well, nippy and turning circle is tiny! It did feel a little strange at first when turning but soon got used to that and alot more quiet than driving an Aygo.

Under the bonnet they have tilted the engine, switched A/C compressor locating to the lower rear and resigned the gearbox so the driveshafts pass the front of the sump.

I think it will be a good seller going by the amount of people who have been keen to see it pre PDI (still covered in vinyl, no centre caps, aerial etc etc)

Mart.

I was at my local dealer on Monday getting the RAV4 Mot'ed, and got to sit in an iQ in the showroom, this one was black and somehow seemed smaller that the white one used in all the press photo's, the Dash area all looked good and i liked the grained affect .

The rear seats you can forget, would be easer to remove them and use it as boot space, if i had to pick holes it would be my 6ft1" frame had next to no clearance on the roof, even reclining the seat a little gave no extra clearance, so not for 6ft plus people :(

I'm told the official UK launch date is 6 Jan 09,

and that all Toyota centres in the UK should have

their first iQ by 9 Jan 09

Just had a couple of road test reports in

TOP GEAR "Utter brilliance from Toyota – the car the Smart ForFour should have been"

FIFTH GEAR "Toyota's baby iQ may not be without faults, but it will send rival small car makers back to the drawing board pretty sharpish"

my local dealer had one last few days in December as they have just moved and opened a new showroom... and I'm pleasently surprised by this little car! It's too small for me, and as I don't live or have to travel into a city hardly ever I've no reason for it. However, when sat inside it felt as spacious my yaris, it was just brillaint! Plus it looks all spacey agey and modern :D

Well I road tested and it was as good as I was hoping it would be - so I ordered one!

Standard spec are available in 1 to 2 weeks, but I wanted nav and isport so it may have to be a factory order - will find out on Monday.

It's an iQ2 in pearl white and I can't wait :D

:)

I saw the first one actually on the road yesterday near me (Lincolnshire)

Reg. No **58OGG

Like a little black box with a wheel at each corner, but being the full width

of a 'normal' car they look better proportioned than the Smart IMO.

How does the ride quality compare with the Aygo/Yaris?

What colour choices were you offered?

If some are available within 1 - 2 weeks, that suggests

they have some in the UK, hiding somewhere,

so no excuse for not getting a car to each dealership very soon :D

The ride quality reminded me of the old Yaris T Sport - nice and solid but not harsh, but since I have never driven an Aygo I can't comment. The only colours are black, white (1 to 2 weeks) and purple (3 - 4 weeks) so I would imagine that the stock is winging it's way over from Japan on large ships as I write this. :D

I did my first test drive in one of these on Friday, it was superb!

Good points:

Very punchy 1.0 Aygo engine, seems quicker and quieter than an Aygo

Luxury feel to the car, good spec

Fantastic handling

Feels like a "Normal" sized car when being driven

Great turning circle

Bad Points:

Can't say there was anything bad about it, except the rear passenger/boot space is non existant, but we knew that was the case anyway ;)

well.......

Today I got a spin in an IQ2 :) The first thing I noticed was the quality of the cabin, an altogether more "insulated" feel to it, great ergonomics in that kite shaped console with plenty of electronic wizardry to it, the top of which has a little shielded area with its warning lights etc, tapering into the climate control at the bottom. I liked the audio controls all on the steering wheel, which also has a substantial feel to it, the plastics inside have a softer almost padded look to them, maybe this added to that feeling of being more secure than my Aygo (blue) The seats are really comfy, the back is supportive, but makes u feel kinda snuggly, hehe :D Out on the road and this little car is no slouch, maybe even a little perkier in this Shell than the Aygo, less road noise too, which was nice, and the satisfying 3cylinder thrum is still there too. On the outside the car sits nice and squat on its fancy alloys, nice curves around and the optional mudflaps have a contoured look and dont look like an afterthought. The dinky headlights with their little blue lenses look good too. The keyless system is nice too, just unlock the car, push the start button and your off. I was a tad dissapointed to learn that the sat-nav is optional, all the blurb i seen kinda led me to think is was standard in the IQ2, a well I got a tomtom if i need it anyhow.

Did I like the car - you bet, pricey yes, but you get what you pay for, this little car has style in spades, so I ordered me one! :D

oh, i forgot to mention the gearchange is a lot diffetent feel than the Aygo, it seems more precise somehow, not so floppy, I liked that too! :P

Your right about the engine, it is punchier and feels quicker to me than the Aygo, it does have a luxury feel to it and you dont feel as though you are in a small car. They have done a good job of it IMHO. Enjoy your new purchase!

Hey SooZ, have you been quoted a delivery date? I ordered last Friday but wanted the nav and isports options so it looks like it will be a factory order - did you go for any extras?

I got quoted the 21'st of the month(jan) I had planned on holding out till the new plates came out but Toyota are throwing in metallic paint if ordered before Mar 1st, I ordered the mudflaps as extra, i would have liked a roof spoiler too but there is no cost as yet for it - maybe later if i ever feel flush :)
