Rear Wheel Alignment

just came back from service and on the vsr it mentioned distortion on the back tyres, advised they be replaced sooner rather than later.

car was supplied with new tyres on the back and have covered 9800 miles since getting the car

having looked at them they are worn on the inside edge. has anybody ever encountered this if so what was the cause

im thinking down the line of wheel alignment but the car is fron wheel drive. other things suggested are shock absorbers and tyre manufactirers defect.

any suggestions

some mid range brand called federal, would not be my choice if i had to pay

may be a fault with the tyre been on the phone to a relative who is in the motor trade, more i think the less i belive its the wheel alignment because on the vsr i got the treads measure at 6 mill right across the 2 back tyre as the tread would be uneven otherwise. i got the car serviced at a different dealer to where i bought the car even they agree it doesnt seem it can be the alignment. im also pretty sure the shockers are ok i think its obvious when they on the way out

ive visited the place i go for tyres normally he says its a faulty tyre. any idea how much 4 wheel alignment costs as im considering getting this checked as a starter to rule that out.

having spoken to dealer who supplied the car im beginning to believe im being fobbed off even though the car is under warranty

Hi

I have an 03 T-Sport and have the same problem, I've just had to replace the rear tyres (P-Zero's ££££) because the inner edge was warn and had a full 4 wheel alignment done but i can clearly see when looking at the rear wheels that they dont sit 'flat' on the road.

I'm sure that changing the camber of the wheels would result in more even tyre wear but dont know if they've been set up like this for a reason????

Federal's aren't a mid range Tyre, they're budget/rubbish. It's not unknown for this exact brand of Tyre to go out of shape on the rear of a Gen 7. I recall a GT owner having this problem 12/13 months ago and Mr T wrongly diagnosing buckled Rims  Try a pair of Toyo T1R on the rear in either 205/45 or 215/45 if you have 17" Rims.

had a tyre dealer look at the tyres said they have had a few defective tyres of this brand, had a word with customer relations at toyota gb, put my case that i had specified i wanted no crap on the back as i was made aware prior to delivery that new tyres were required.

cant see me getting anywere but one way or the other they are getting changed in the next week or so. going to fit some pirellis or something similar, might try these toyo's they seem to get a good write up

how much are the toyo's anybody got any idea
