Removal Of Rear Suspension Part?

hi folks

this maybe a absolutley crazy question, but looking from behind rav4 is it possible to remove the diagonal arms that go from the rear diff down to the lowest connection point on the rear wheels,as these seem to drag in all the mud etc when im green laning.

this may be a daft question but what do these actually do ?

are they critical,or am the 1st rav owner who wants to remove them for more ground clearance

or will rav just collapse if i try this........yikes!!, if so will leave well alone

wheels will pop outwards causing driveshafts to pop out

ye - its a feature of the suspension set up and I don't think theres a whole lot you can do without radically changing the suspension entirely in which case you might as well buy a real off-roader - cheaper !
